How the team generator works
Type or paste names, one per line, choose either how many teams you want or how many people per team, and press Make teams. The names are shuffled with a fair random shuffle (Fisher-Yates, using your browser's secure random number generator) and dealt out one at a time, so team sizes never differ by more than one person.
Press the button again for a new draw, or use Copy teams to paste the result into a chat or document. Your names stay in your browser and are never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions
Are the teams balanced?
Team sizes are as even as possible. With 10 names and 3 teams you get teams of 4, 3 and 3. This tool does not balance by skill, only by size.
Can I keep two people apart?
Not automatically. If two people must not share a team, press the button again until they are apart.
Is my list saved?
The names are remembered in your own browser so they are there next time. They are never sent to us.
How many names can I add?
Up to 200 names and up to 50 teams.
